Analysis of the chemical composition of surface reservoirs of the city of Elista

The article presents the results of the assessment of the ecological state of surface reservoirs in Elista, Republic of Kalmykia. The results of the analysis of water quality in reservoirs by 20 indicators were obtained: salt composition, heavy metal content, phenols, petroleum products. The results of the analysis of the bottom sediments of the Elistinka River are presented. It was revealed that the waters do not comply with sanitary and epidemiological standards and are not suitable for use in drinking and household purposes. Sewage discharge has a significant impact on the water quality of Elista. According to its composition, water belongs to the sulfate-chloride-sodium type. It was found that the levels of phenolic compounds in water samples are in the range of 0.039-0.09 mg/l. Moderate levels of lead, copper, nickel, chromium, cadmium and cobalt were found in the sediments, but the zinc content exceeds the maximum permissible values.
