Evaluation of the collection of sugar sorghum by economic and valuable characteristics

The article discusses the issues of selection for the resistance of samples of sugar sorghum to infections. The source material is analyzed, the interrelations between economically valuable features and elements of productivity are shown. The research was conducted in 2021-2022 at the experimental field of RosNIISK Rossorgo, according to the state task of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation No. 082-00219-21-00, No. 082-00084-22-00. In recent years, due to severe disease damage, sorghum crops have become accumulators of many infections, so obtaining healthy seed material is one of the important directions in breeding. In this regard, the purpose of the research was to evaluate the breeding, economically valuable parameters of the seed material of local and non-district selection, as well as its resistance to diseases. Clustering at a minimum of Euclidean distances allowed us to group the varietal patterns according to the similarity of the 7 studied features and comprehensively evaluate the varietal patterns across the entire set of parameters. The results obtained are used in the selection of components of crosses (parent forms) in the selection of sorg hybrids. As a starting material, it is recommended to include varietal samples included in clusters 1, 3, 4, 5, 12 and 14.
