Oilseeds in Russia at the beginning of the twentieth century

In human life, oilseeds (dry matter contains vegetable fats in a sufficiently large amount as a nutrient) play an important role. Vegetable oil used for food and for technical purposes is squeezed out of the seeds of oilseeds. Pressed products (cake, meal) they are an excellent source of enrichment of concentrated feeds with high-quality protein for animal husbandry. Also, pressed products are used in the food industry. Russia was famous for growing and supplying oilseeds, vegetable oil, and processed products to foreign markets of the world. At the beginning of the twentieth century, sunflower, spring and winter rapeseed, spring and winter wheat, soybeans, flax, hemp, castor oil and other oilseeds were cultivated in the country, which are in great demand both within the country and abroad. During this period, the main trends in the production of oilseeds were formed in the country, which have survived to the present.
