Prospects for the use of calendula officinalis in potted gardening

Due to the high content of flavonoids in its chemical composition, calendula is mainly cultivated as a medicinal plant. However, due to the large number of varieties, calendula is an attractive crop for use in decorative gardening. Modern varieties allow them to be used as a container culture, however, there is no information about the impact of a limited area of nutrition in the literature. The purpose of this study is to identify the varieties that are most optimal for use in container gardening, and to assess the variability of morphological characteristics of plant parts with different methods of cultivation. The objects of the study were varieties of calendula: "Apricot", "Pink surprise", "Radiant", "Art Sheds", "Sunset", "Indian Prince", "Cabluna Gold", "Tutti – Frutti", "Fiesta Gitana", "Golden balls". The research was carried out in the laboratory of cultivated plants of the GBS RAS. A reliable influence of the growing method on the parameters was established. The structure of variability of quantitative characteristics was evaluated.
