Fish helminthoses as bio-indicators of pollution in the Lena River basin

To determine the quality of water and the toxicological situation in water bodies, a parasitological method can be used, which allows, under field conditions, to fairly objectively determine the degree of pollution of water bodies with pollutants, which have a detrimental effect not only on invertebrates, but also on ichthyoparasites. Among different groups of parasites of epizootological and epidemiological significance, different attitudes to the effects of pollutants were revealed. At present, in the water area of the Vilyui River, with a high technogenic load on the reservoir, a gradual decrease in the degree of infection of fish with plerocercoids Triaenophorus nodulosus (burbot - 34.0%) and the absence of Diphyllobothrium latum in plerocercoids are observed. The reduction in the extensiveness of fish invasion by plerocercoids Triaenophorus nodulosus in the Vilyui River compared to the Lena River (burbot - 85%) is associated with the technogenic impact of anthropogenic pollution on the larval stages of tapeworms.
