Application of particle swarm optimization algorithm for solving optimization problems with distributed generation

The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is one of the most popular optimization techniques in the field of swarm intelligence. On the basis of the MPG, many algorithms have been developed for distributed generation (DG) facilities in order to ensure high-quality and reliable power supply to consumers. The fulfillment of these tasks can be achieved only by placing the RG units in the optimal nodes of the electrical network. The solution of tasks is carried out in two stages: finding the optimal connection point in the nodes of the electrical network and determining the optimal parameters of the RG facilities. The article provides an overview of the application of the MPG algorithm and its hybrids to solve problems of optimization of electric networks with distributed generation objects. The review shows that algorithms based on MPG can effectively solve such problems.
