Large-scale soil mapping based on high resolution open satellite data

A large-scale soil map of a part of the territory of the agricultural enterprise “Pokrovskie Niva” of the Nytvensky District of the Perm region has been produced. The aim of the research was to create a large-scale soil map based on the WorldView-3 satellite image. To create a map, the snapshot was first classified using the ISODATA uncontrolled classification method, and then based on field and laboratory studies of the soil, a classification was made with training. The result of the training classification is a large-scale soil map. The interrelation of the spectral channels of the visible range of the WorldView-3 image with the agrochemical properties of sod-calcareous soils, which predominate in the studied territory, was investigated. A strong correlation was established between the reflection in the red channel of the image and the humus state, as well as the of the soil pH. On the studied site, it was possible to establish clear boundaries of the soils, which coincide with the tone of their satellite image.
